National Dog Day

SG

This Friday, August 26th is National Dog Day; it was founded in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige, to encourage adoption. It is a day to celebrate all breeds and to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year.

Adopting is one of the most compassionate and rewarding things you will ever do. Your decision to adopt will provide a second chance for a deserving animal. We wanted to celebrate all the fur babies in our office by having them come in for a photo shoot. Visit our Facebook page to view all the fabulous photos: Living In Scarsdale FB.

Here are some great local shelters if you are thinking about rescuing an animal. Most of these shelters run off of donations and volunteers if that is something you are also interested in.

Gilda’s Stair Climb

We had an amazing time and turnout at Gilda’s Stair Climb last night. Thank you to everyone that attended the climb and everyone that donated.

The mission of Gilda’s Club is to create welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens and children – along with their families and friends. Our innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing networking and support groups, workshops, education and social activities. Since 2001, Gilda’s Club Westchester has offered support for people whose lives have been touched by cancer…all types of cancer. It’s a warm, inviting place where everyone can come together to share their experiences. Free of charge and non–profit, Gilda’s Club Westchester offers networking and support groups, lectures and workshops, and social activities in a nonresidential, yet home–like setting.

You won’t find medical care here. Here is where you, your family and friends will find emotional and social support as a supplement to medical care. Here is where support, information, fellowship, laughter and understanding meet. All free of charge.

Scarsdale Veterans Ceremony

Today the Scarsdale Veterans Ceremony was held in the center of the Village. It was a beautiful day to come out and honor all our veterans. A march was held on Chase Road to Boniface Circle to commence the event. Speeches were given by Mayor Bob Steves and Assembly Woman Amy Paulin. To conclude the event a moment of silence was held for the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month in the 1918 ending of WW1.
